Inward Journey
Most of us are not aware of our bodies. People who are new to any physical exercises must be aware that it takes time to "master" one’s physical capabilities. One should think and take things slowly.
Students attending a yoga class for the first time would say
“I want to do headstand! “. If this is your goal, bear in mind that before
reaching this, the body should be physically and mentally prepared. So what can we do to reach this goal?
First we need to really dig deep into our consciousness
WHY are we doing this? HOW can we do this? And WHEN can we
achieve this?
WHY are we doing this? Think about the intention. Why do you
want to do that headstand? Are u AWARE of the benefits of the pose? Are you physically
prepared to execute the pose? After doing the pose, what’s next? Would that
make you happy? Until when?
HOW can we do this?
Know yourself. Be aware. Know your strengths and weaknesses. And from
there you start your own journey… Maintain your strengths and strengthen your
weaknesses. J
If you really want to reach that goal then work hard for it. Better go the long
and hard way rather than taking the short, easy way but end up getting injured.
WHEN can we achieve this? It takes TIME and more PRACTICE.
Yoga is a continuous self-discovery.
We are unique individuals, in my case years and years of
physical practice. As a kid, I used to climb monkey bars, dance, play
volleyball, basketball, tennis, jumping rope, hoola hoop, patintero, dampa, sipa, Chinese garter, jolen, text,
agawan base, langit lupa, ice water, bike. Got scratches on my knees and
elbows, but it were fine and being bruised is part of the game. Way back then,
my goal was to have fun! And it was really fun! Even if I lose the game at
least I still had fun “during” the game….
Think again…
WHY are we doing this? HOW can we do this? And WHEN can we
achieve this? It depends. Only YOU can answer.
